The Law Faculty Hosted Seminar on the Development of Marriage and Family Law in the Chinese Modernization Process/2023 Annual Conference of the Chinese Law Society’s Research Association on Marriage and Family Law
The seminar titled "Marriage and Family Law Construction in the Process of Chinese Modernization," which also served as the 2023 Annual Conference of the Marriage and Family Law Research Association of the China Law Society, was grandly held at the Zhongxing Tiancheng International Hotel in Yangzhou from October 21 to 22. The event, hosted by the Association and co-organized by the Humanities and Social Sciences Department of Yangzhou University and our Law School, brought together nearly 200 experts and scholars from esteemed universities, research institutions, judicial bodies, and law firms across China, including prestigious universities like Peking University, Renmin University of China, and Nanjing University.
Professor Wang Chengtang, Vice President and a Standing Committee member of Yangzhou University, inaugurated the conference with a welcoming address. He congratulated the participants on the successful commencement of the conference and warmly welcomed the attending experts and scholars. He expressed his hopes for the conference to contribute innovative ideas and make significant contributions to the modernization of marriage and family law in China under the guidance of Xi Jinping's thoughts on the rule of law.
Wang Weiguo, a researcher and second-level inspector from the Research Department of the China Law Society, attended and addressed the conference. He emphasized the influential role of the Marriage and Family Law Research Association as a think-tank, highlighting the need for the development of a distinctively Chinese academic system and discourse in marriage law education and research. Xia Yinlan, a professor at China University of Political Science and Law and president of the Association, delivered the annual work report.
Invited to the conference, Zhang Wenxian, a member of the Party Group and Academic Committee Director of the China Law Society and a senior professor at Jilin University and Zhejiang University, provided an online special report on "Modernization of Chinese Rule of Law." Long Yifei, a professor at Renmin University of China Law School and the executive vice president of the Association, chaired the opening ceremony.
